In 2001, during the qualifying run for the 2002 Football World Cup, Australia won the American Samoa team 31 to 0, thus sealing the bulkiest result in the history of that sport and confirming the title of “worst team in the world” that Samoa has been displaying since 1983, having lost every single match since becoming a member of FIFA. But that is not all, “All we want is to score one goal” is the request from one of the team’s executives to new coach Thoman Rongen (played by Michael Fassbender), another sportsman who knows a lot about failure. This fiction goes in search of achieving the goal of telling a story that would be considered implausible if it weren’t for the fact that it’s true, and where director Taika Waititi shows a love for both his characters and comedy that could win by a landslide at any competition.
